I have read many Curwood novels but I believe this one, although in the typically over-dramatic style of the day, to be his best. He has strung together three relatively unrelated plots together skillfully, with surprising twists. However, this , once again, appears to be highly CONDENSED, as the print book is over 300 pages.
Pretty good book, not bad reading, a predictable but okay story line. Its always good when you can imerse yourself in the environment (wilderness) and read how hard life was all those years ago. Amazing people survived and found their way around.
One of his better efforts.

This was a good as I remember from reading this as a teen forty years ago. Still a good read.
I linked this story best action and the descriptions of the wilderness makes it more realistic going to get the rest
If you are a western fan then include this in your reading. A well told story and written in a style that is pleasent to read and it keeps your attention.
